Refund & Cancellation Policy

1. Subscription cancellation

You may cancel your ScanMyNotes subscription at any time from the Account section in the Android app or on the website. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period — you will retain full access to your paid plan until then. After the billing period ends, your account automatically moves to the Free plan.

Cancelling does not delete your account or your data. To delete your account and data, see our Privacy Policy.

2. Refund policy — monthly subscriptions

Paid subscriptions are billed monthly in advance. We follow a no-refund policy for partial use of a billing period: if you cancel mid-cycle, you retain access until the end of that cycle but are not refunded for unused days.

Exceptions — we will issue a full refund if:
— You were charged due to a technical or billing error on our side
— You contact us within 7 days of your first payment on a new subscription and have not made meaningful use of paid features (we will verify usage from our records)
— The service was unavailable for more than 48 consecutive hours within a billing period due to our fault (excluding outages of third-party providers such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Razorpay)
— Duplicate charges were processed for the same billing period

To request a refund under an eligible exception, email support@scanmynotes.in from your registered email address within 30 days of the charge. Include your registered email, the approximate date of the charge, and the reason for your request. We process eligible refunds within 5–7 business days back to the original payment method via Razorpay.

3. Free plan

The Free plan provides a one-time, lifetime allowance and is not charged. There is nothing to refund. You may stop using the service at any time. Once your Free allowance is used, no further free scans are provided.

4. Plan changes

Upgrades: Upgrading from Free to a paid plan, or from a lower paid plan to a higher one, takes effect immediately. The new plan's quota becomes available right away. We do not pro-rate or partially refund the previous plan's billing period — the new plan's billing cycle starts on the upgrade date.

Downgrades: Downgrading to a lower paid plan or to Free takes effect at the end of your current billing period.

Note on retention: Plan changes do not extend the retention of scans uploaded under a previous plan. A scan uploaded under the Free plan is deleted 30 days after upload even if you upgrade to a higher plan later.

5. Failed payments

If a subscription renewal payment fails, we will keep your plan active for a short grace period while we retry the charge or notify you. If payment is not completed, your account will revert to the Free plan. No refund is owed because no charge succeeded.

6. Payment disputes

If you believe you have been charged incorrectly, please contact us at support@scanmynotes.in before raising a dispute with your bank or payment provider. We resolve legitimate billing errors promptly. Filing a chargeback without first contacting us may result in suspension of your account.
